This is a Facebook group, I actually find it pretty funny, and most of it sooo true !

Soo you know you've studied in California as an international student when...

1. The most common thing is seeing people riding a bike or skateboard while carrying a surfboard.

2. Fashion is up to you...you can wear whatever you want to...nobody cares.

3. When you can walk in campus and suddenly see an orangutan following a banana...yeah...

4. When you are trying to read on the grass on campus but you cannot stop being scared by the blondesorority girls yelling...and they're just saying hello...actually they saw each other yesterday...

5. When people split in the street and then, so politely, they say "excuse me".

6. When a guy asks you to dance but they just grab you from behind and expect you to shake your ass in his... ehem...in europe this is directly called SEX.

7. When you find out that the real cups of coffe (not plastic ones), as well as forks and knifes do not really exist everywhere...

8. When you see the biggest coffee you'll ever be able to see...but it is actually brown water.

9. When, sadly, you cannot enter clubs if you are UNDER 21, not even to dinner...oh, come on!

10. When "ridiculous" "retarded" "gnaaaarly" "its like... you know... huh" "whats up toniiiiight" "furrrget abaut it" and all those sticky phrases are a part of your daily speech...cause you just cant help it

11. When everybody has a laptop.

12. When you go to class an hour or two in the whole day, or maybe you dont even have class, and still, you skip it.

13. When the library is full at 3pm...it's siesta time, americans!

14. When people go directly from bed to class or wear pijama the whole day, in the library, street, wherever...but you realise they put on their make up anyway...casual but pretty, always pretty haha.

15. When you see a lot of blonde girls&guys everywhere...real or not?

16. When you see a lot of Hispanic people together talking in English.

17. When you are always worried about having enough quarters to do the laundry...damn!

18. When you want a coffee but you hesitate if having it with whipped cream, frosted, blended, white moccha, chai tea, vanilla, hazelnut, sugar free, double espresso...I just want a coffee please!

19. When you ask for a box in a restaurant...

20. When you say weird, fuckin, damn, awesome, hilarious, gorgeous, sweeeeet...

21. When you have written more papers in a quarter than in your whole life.

22. When you hear "como te esta gustando so far?" a hundred times.

23. When you've tried surfing at least once.

24. When you can find people taking a nap in the library.

25. When there are concerts in the park EVERYday!

26. When everybody live in beautiful houses, even in front of the beach, having parties constantly...

27. When everybody have couches facing the street...cool!

28. When you become to be addicted to facebook...

29. When people clap when a course finishes...ldefinitely, life is a show.

30. When converse, levis, nike, etc., are much cheaper than in europe...

31. But olive oil is fuckin expensive and hard to get!

32. When you've done more barbecues than ever!

33. When guys wear bandanas in the front...and it looks really hot!

34. When you love playing beerpong.

35. When you know what a keg is.

36. When you realize that american movies are not movies...they're actually reality!

37. When being ridiculous is not an option...nobody cares!

38. When you start drinking at 8 and go to the party at 10 cause at 1 or 2 it is already over...joder!

39. When you have to knock on the door of your friends cause there are no timbres...

40. When you know what craigslist is and you use it a lot!

41. When you get used to going running in the afternoon with the ipod.

42. When the gym is full the whole day...working out as an obsession..

43. But then people are eating snacks the whole day too...country of contradictions yeah...

44. When you can choose a lot of different courses and you like them all, there's class discussion and you read a lot.

45. When people study in cafes...java jones, yeah!

46. When people are usually really open and friendly.

47. When people are polite, say hello and how you doin in stores, bars, etc, and open the door for you.

48. When everybody is so "legal", the law is never left aside and drivers stop 30 seconds in every stop sign even if nobody's coming.

49. When there are a lot of streets/dishes/places etc with spanish names, but american pronunciation, for sure...

50. When abbreviations like RecCen, Ucen, T.J. (tijuana), right D (defense), pj's, DP, are reaaaally common...

51. When people drink first rum alone and then the soda…

52. When the homeless pick up the cups and trash from last night party…sad.

53. When everything is exciting, surprising, aweeeesome, you travel a lot and see all the differents landscapes that California has, and you love more and more this place, santa barbara, san francisco, san diego, LA, santa cruz, monterrey, carmel, yosemite, big sur, ventura, and, obviously, Isla Vista!!!

'cause, despite all our differences, we really LOOOVE being here and we're gonna miss it a lot and, as we always say, life is LIFE in CALIFORNIA...!!!
